Deputy Speaker Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi has called upon the functionaries of PHE, I& FC to ensure the completion of ongoing developmental projects well in time for convenience of the inhabitants of border Tehsil Gurez.
Chairing a review meeting of PHE, I&FC officers convened to review the physical and financial status of various ongoing projects under execution in Gurez Tehsil here today, the Deputy Speaker asked the concerned field officers to work with utmost zeal and zest to achieve the developmental targets fixed for current fiscal in the area before commencing of winter season. He also urged for stocking of building material well in time to avoid inconvenience for the timely construction of the projects in the area.While reviewing the progress of under execution PHE projects in the area, the Deputy Speaker was apprised by the concerned Engineers that Rs 6.38 crore is being utilized on various WSS in Gurez during current fiscal year. He was informed that to further upgrade the tapped water supply in the area, the PHE department submitted DPRs worth Rs 22.94 crore to the higher ups for approval.
The Deputy Speaker was also apprised that out of 5 ongoing WSS projects involving total cost of Rs 2.40 crore, 3 WSS have been completed, while as the work on 2 WSs are at final stage in the area.Taking stock of Irrigation and Flood Control works, the Deputy Speaker was informed that work on 6 ongoing irrigation khuls in Gurez are apace at the total estimated cost of Rs 5.61 crore and work on all these schemes are expected to be completed within one year subject to the availability of funds.The Deputy speaker was also apprised that the Department has a proposal to take up the construction work on flood protection bunds in Gurez and Tulial Vallies on the banks of river Kishan Ganga and its tributaries at an estimated cost of Rs 12.43 crore under Flood Management Programme.
