Srinagar , 07 Jul 2015

Hundreds of passengers commuting regularly from different areas of the Kashmir Valley to Srinagar city via train Tuesday said that all the trains plying in Valley lack every kind of facilities as a result they have been facing inconvenience on daily basis. The windowless trains irk passengers especially when it rains heavily. The raindrops directly pour on rugged seats, forcing passengers to stand up in the middle of the train corridor,” a group of passenger told CNS.

There are no windows, no seating arrangements, no toilet facility on the stations. The train system in the Valley is in total mess. It is surprising that the toilet erected at different railway stations like Hilar, Awantipora, Qazigund, Bijbehara, Panzgam remain locked day and night,” they said. The passengers added that they have also been facing inconvenience as there is “insufficient” transport facilities available at the station to ferry them to their destinations.  “There is no facility of vehicles to take passengers from the station to their destinations. We have to wait for hours to board a vehicle, which becomes very hectic,” said a passenger. An official from Northern Railways held passengers responsible for the mess in trains. “Trains were in good condition when they were introduced in Valley but today everything is in mess. We will look into the problem and try to address them,” he said. (CNS)
