He said, however, many people in our society have turned their back towards fulfilling these religious duties.APHC Chairman stated that to get maximum blessings in this holy month of Ramadan, people should check their materialistic demands, be kind to poor and needy, play their role in building healthy society and render their services for protecting the rights of the people.
Mirwaiz said that rewards of fasting are many, but in this month they are multiplied.APHC Chairman stated that people should shun materialistic tendencies and indulge in pious deeds and good work for the whole year, let alone in Ramadan, to win the blessings of Almighty. He stated that in this holy month, the religious places like Masjids and Shrines are full of devotees who take leads to help people, adding, however, such activities should continue so that the aim of Ramadan is fulfilled to its core.Mirwaiz said it was during the Month of Ramadan the holy Quran was revealed. He said the book brought blessings, revolution and infused discipline, in the mankind.
APHC Chairman said that as per the Non Goverenmental Organisation (NGO), Save the Children, the number of orphan children in Kashmir stands at 2 Lakh at present. He stated that out of that around 37 percent children were orphaned during the ongoing Kashmir movement. He said due to the government’s failure to rehabilitate such children, 80 percent of orphan children end up their education at matriculation. He said extreme poverty, dependence on ill equipped orphanage centers, and stress forces these children to stop their education due to which they plunge into extreme poverty and despondency which often becomes a cause of depression for them. “The state has completely failed to settle orphans as it has no proper strategy to deal with this issue, but we as a nation too have failed to address this challenging issue,” Mirwaiz said.APHC Chairman said the responsibility to rehabilitate such orphans also falls on big educational institutions, business establishments and corporates, adding, they should come forward and help these to get integrated in the society by providing them proper education.
Mirwaiz stated that schools under Anjuman-e-Nusrat-ul Islam were providing free education and health care to orphans; however, due to their extremely high numbers it was not possible that one institution would look after their entire needs and as such more help is sought from other institutions who should announce special package for them.APHC Chairman said it was highly unfortunate that government was arresting children and slapping PSA on them, adding, such actions have subjected children to psychological and physical torture. He said the international Human Rights organizations should take strong notice in this regard. (KNS)
