The meeting of the Committee on Petitions of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was held under the chairmanship of Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLC.Legislators, Mr. G. N. Monga and Smt. Rani Gargi Blowria were present in the meeting.

The meeting discussed threadbare various issues regarding further process of the working of the Committee so that it could be made people-friendly and fruitful.Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman stressed upon the members to take the Committee seriously as it is directly connected with the interests of general people. He also directed for issuance of public notice in local dailies and through other media so that people could come up with their grievances regarding general public issues for redressal. The issues should not be sub-judice or not pending in any court of inquiry.

The petitions can be made in the name of Chairman Legislative Council on specific proforma which can be had from Legislative Council Secretariat.The Committee feels pleased to invite petitions relating to general public interests like flood victims etc. however, personal issues which have been provided with an adequate remedy through other medium i.e. core, commission, tribunals cannot be taken in this Committee on petitions.Among others Additional Secretary, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Sheikh and other concerned officers of the Council Secretariat were present in the meeting.
