Govt. determined to improve living standard of border people: Shabir

Asks people to reject divisive, vested elements for State’s development

Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan has said the present Government is working hard to raise the living standard of people, particularly BPLs, rural and border people. He said many schemes and programmes have been launched to meet this goal.Addressing public meetings today at border villages of Rattimitti and Doongi Manyalan in Doongi Block of Rajouri district, the Minister  said that governments’ pro-people policies and exemplary initiatives have pushed  the State on the track of peace and prosperity. He affirmed that this rhythm would be carried onward with a mission to ensure all-round development of rural as well as border people.The Health Minister said that providing quality healthcare facilities received focused attention of the government, adding that many  hospitals   and other  health institutions have been opened in inaccessible areas .

Highlighting the priorities under health sector, the Minister said that all such areas having difficult topography would be provided health center facilities. He said in this regard the government would soon establish 600 new sub-health centers in the State.Referring to the overall development of Dongi Block, the Minister said to upgrade the power scenario in the area a project report of Rs over 2crore for construction of Receiving Station at Shahkot Dongi  have been mooted to Centre for approval of funds. He said to upgrade the road connectivity in the block work on 6 kms Keri-Rattimitti, 4Kms Doongi- Nanglan and Punnian- Tunditrar roads involving total cost of Rs 7.27 crore are apace against which Rs 3.38 crore have been expended on these roads so far. He said these roads would be completed well in time and provides better connectivity to over 6 villages of the area. He said the focused attention is also being given to upgrade drinking water supply in the area adding that WSS Nanglan is apace at a cost of Rs 1.56 crore, would be completed in stipulated time frame.

The Minister reaffirmed that being the local representative equal development of all the areas was my priority and no injustice would be done to any area of the district on the developmental front. He assured the people that all their genuine developmental needs would be carry out in a phased manner. He also impressed upon the officers to solve the people’s genuine developmental needs on priority.The Minister appealed people to cooperate with the Government in its efforts to bring a developmental turnaround in the State. He asked them to reject the pisive politics practiced by certain groups which is to the detriment of the State.Later, the Minister accompanied by District officers and Engineers inspected the pace of progress of several ongoing projects in the area. He instructed them to ensure quality use of building material and judicious utilization of government exchequer besides time bound completion of developmental projects for convenience of the people.
