Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee chief Kaul Singh Thakur on sunday said the BJP government was neck-deep in corruption and scams. But surprisingly, the national leadership of BJP was siding with the state BJP leadership even after getting a detailed documentary evidence of corruption against the government. While talking to this correspondent, he alleged that the BJP regime had failed on all fronts and its tenure was marked by one scam after another whether it involved the land, forest or liquor mafia. The Congress State Chief said land mafia had flourished in the state with active patronage of ministers, while the Chief Minister was a silent spectator. There are ample cases of violation of Section 118 of the Tenancy and Land Reforms Act where precious land has been given to outsiders and the most glaring example is that of Acharya Balkrishan, an associate of Swami Ramdev, who is not even a citizen of India and is already under the CBI scanner. He further added that opening of a large number of private varsities and permission to open three of these in a single panchayat of Solan district was a part of land mafia. He said that by compromising with the quality of education, the future of youth of the hill state had been jeopardised.  Kaul Singh claimed the party was totally united and he was making every effort to carry each and every worker along, while according respect to senior leaders. He showed complete disagreement with general perception that the state Congress was going “soft” on the BJP government in the state in and outside the assembly. “You can check the records of Vidhan Sabha proceedings wherein Congress members have aggressively raised issues concerning common man. We have also been raising issues strongly outside the assembly at different forums,” he said and added that the Congress would hold public meetings in all 68 Assembly constituencies to make people aware about the “anti-people decisions” of the BJP regime, misuse of government money and to counter the false propaganda by the BJP regime on discrimination by the UPA government against Himachal.
