Chief Minister inaugurates B-Pharmacy College at Rohru

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today inaugurated Rs. 12.65 crore B-Pharmacy College building at Annu (Rohru) in Shimla district and Government Offices Complex at Upper Bazaar, Rohru constructed at a cost of  Rs. 1.52 Crore and Rs. 2.65 crore hostel building of Government Post Graduate Degree College, Seema.The foundation stones of B-Pharmacy College and Boys hostel building of Seema College were laid by Shri Virbhadra Singh on 6 September, 2006 during his previous term as Chief Minister. He had also laid the foundation stone of Government Offices Complex at Rohru on 5 October, 2005. B-Pharmacy College houses separate administrative, dispensary and residential blocks, girl’s hostel and soon will have the facility of auditorium. The three-storied government offices complex will have various offices under one roof besides, the newly constructed four-storied boy’s hostel in Seema College will facilitate 105 students.

Later, Chief Minister presided over the Silver Jubilee function of Seema College and Zone-IV Inter-College Youth Festival. 

Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated the staff and students of the College for organizing the function and celebrating 25 glorious years of its existence. He said this college had emerged as Centre of Excellence for higher education and so far more than 25,000 graduates had passed out from this college who were serving the Nation, while working on various important positions. He said Himachal Pradesh had emerged as education hub of the country and the State had made rapid strides in all other major sectors. Chief Minister directed the Education  department to fill all vacant posts of teachers in far flung areas of the State on priority so that students did not suffer for want of staff. He also directed to complete the construction of library cum auditorium in B-Pharmacy College within two months. Shri Virbhadra Singh announced to construct Sports ground and staff quarters for the faculties of Seema college.He also distributed the prizes to meritorious and old students of the college and presented mementos to all ex-Principals, students of the first batch of the college and ex-PTA Presidents.  Shri Narender Chauhan, a journalist and Shri Surender Retka, ex-President of the Nagar Parishad Rohru were also honoured on the occasion. He gave away the prizes to the winners of various competitions of the Youth Festival held on the occasion.Chief Minister also released the souvenir of the college. 

Earlier,  B.L. Vinta, Principal of Seema College welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed about the itinerary. He said that Shri Virbhadra Singh had laid foundation stone of this college and it was a matter of pride that he had graced the Silver Jubilee function with his presence. He thanked the Chief Minister for introducing master courses and various other facilities in this college to facilitate students of far flung area. Chief Minister was accorded warm welcome by representatives of various Gram Panchayats and other organizations at different places on his arrival to Rohru.

Local MLA Shri Mohan Lal Brakta, Ex MLA  Nehar Singh Thakur, Chairman, Zila Parishad Shri Chandreshwar Prasad, General Secretary, HPCC Smt Geeta Negi, Shimla District Rural Congress Committee President Shri Kehar Singh Khachi, Rohru Block Congress President Shri Ishwar Dass Chhoharu, Advisor, Agro Marketing Board Shri Devender Shyam, President Nagar Parishad Shri Raj Kumar Neetu, former President Nagar Parishad Rohru Shri Surender Retka, Senior Congress leader Shri Ranvijay Negi,  Advisor to Chief Minister Shri T.G. Negi, SCA President Shri Rohit Dhanta, Engineer in Chief, PWD, Shri Pradeep Chauhan, Director, Higher Education Shri Dinkar Burathoki  and other prominent people of the area were present on the occasion.

Earlier, before leaving to Rohru today, Shri Virbhadra Singh visited the old Hanuman temple in Rampur Bushahr and asked the authorities for proper maintenance of the temple premises keeping in view its architect. He also inspected the new bus stand of Rampur Bushahr and directed for proper maintenance and cleanliness of the same. In order to avoid traffic congestion, he directed that all buses should ply from bus stand only. Chief Minister also directed to ensure that shops constructed at new bus stand should be properly utilized to facilitate the commuters. He directed to construct a road from bus stand to Khaneri connecting the National highway to ensure smooth traffic up to new bus stand.
