Six New Roads To Be Constructed, Investing 955 Crore: Dhillon

The Punjab Government has approved six new road projects of 330 km of length. The total estimated cost on this project would be 955.89 crore.Disclosing this here today PWD Minister, Punjab Mr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that 42.12 Km long Rayya-Kharra road along with Sabhroan Branch with the cost of 145 crore, 53.50 km long Manpur Head to Jagroan-Raikot road along Abohar Branch with 194.74 crore, 47.44 km long Manpur Head to Barnala-Raikot road along Bathinda Branch with 155.15 crore, 49 km long Nidampur-Lehra road along Ghaggar Branch with 163.71 crore, 72.15 km long Tanda-Shri Hargobindpur-Amritsar road with 158.30 crore and 65.98 km long Kapurthala-Nakoder-Phillaur road with the cost of 138.99 crore would be constructed. “Official formalities for these projects have been completed and the work on this project would be commenced soon.” said Mr. Dhillon.

He said that with the construction of this new road network the load of traffic in Majha area would be de-escalated. He said that the government is also repairing the 1343.71 km of roads with the cost of 290 crore.Mr. Dhillon said that SAD-BJP government has also chalked out a plan to construct bridges, widening and strengthening of roads and construction of flyovers, where needed, in the state since the department was working on this plan at ground level. He said that a special emphasis was paying by the Punjab Government in this regard to further bring improvement in the road network besides connecting all parts of the state with upgraded roads.
