Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh while speaking on the occasion of a function organised by Snapdeal online purchasing store, at Hotel Dhauladhar, Dharamshala today appreciated the efforts of the Snapdeal for launching India’s first e-commerce zone at Dharamsala.“ I am delighted that the snapdeal has taken this initiative to create employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in Dharamsala by creating e-commerce zone” said the Chief Minister. He expressed hope that this would have a positive impact on the economy of the region which until now was largely based on tourism.He said that the technology had expanded to such an extent that the business was now being done online which saves time. The e-commerce zone, first of its kind in India would certainly help the local businessmen and the people of the town.
The Chief Minister said that this unique effort to power local economy could present a new model of development for the country with massive growth of internet economy.“ I am happy to know that Snapdeal will have separate online store for Himachali traditional handloom and Handicrafts”, added Shri Virbhadra Singh.The Chief Minister also lauded the efforts of Urban development Minister, Shri Sudhir Sharma for taking this initiative and his farsightedness aimed at invigorating the local economy by creating e-commerce entrepreneurs.
