To observe” International Day Of Yoga”, District Administration Udhampur organized a Yoga camp in collaboration with Government Degree College(Boys) Udhampur in the college premises today.More than 1000 NCC cadets from various schools and colleges of the district as well as Katra town participated in the International Yoga day with full enthusiasm.
The Minister of State for Finance & IT, Pawan Kumar Gupta was the chief guest while District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary was the guest of honor on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion, Minister lauded the efforts of District Administration Udhampur for holding a mega programme . He said that Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition and it embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature. Yoga is a holistic approach to health and well-being and is not just about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness within yourself, the world and the nature, the Minister added .
Gupta called for organizing more such events for the benefit of student community as well as society.
Minister himself participated in the whole Yoga programme by practising all the Yoga Kriyas with the NCC Cadets.DDC Udhampur Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary congratulated the people of the district on International Yoga day and also highlighted the importance and benefits of yoga in our life. He said that the district administration will also extend Yoga to the educational institutions at Tehsil and Block level too. He said that Yoga works on the level of one’s body, mind, emotion and energy. He further added that aim of Yoga is to overcome all kinds of sufferings that will lead to a sense of freedom in every walk of life with holistic health, happiness and harmony.DDC said that Yoga brings harmony in all walks of life and it helps in disease prevention, health promotion and management of stress, anxiety and many lifestyle related disorders.
Elaborate arrangements related to security, drinking water, medicare, uninterrupted power supply, accommodation, sanitation, PA system were made by the District Administration Udhampur. Among others, Principal GDC Boys Mr S S Bhalwal, Officer Incharge NCC Captain Geeta Srivastava, CEO Udhampur Mr Bishan Singh, DIO Udhampur Dr Ashwani Hansa, prominent citizens, staff of GDC and a large number of NCC Cadets were present on the occasion.
