PDP chief spokesperson Dr Mehboob Beg has lauded the announcements made by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in the District Development Board meeting (Baramulla-Kupwara) on Thursday. In a statement to KNS Dr Beg termed it as a historic step and said that it was laudable that the practice of 'adhocism' which created liabilities has been done away and a 'structured mechanism' of financing has been approved.“It was essential to clear past liabilities and simultaneously plan for the way forward and appreciated that the government had not only devised a mechanism for clearing the pending work but had also announced new developmental measures like four lanning of the Salamabad-Kuman Post and Pattan Market, Skill Development Institute at Sangrama Kandi, Maternity Hospital at Jagarpora, Conference Hall at Kupwara amongst others,” he said.
Dr Beg termed this as a first step towards restoration of the credibility of the District Development Board meetings which had been badly dented under the previous regime due to the non implementation of most of the decisions taken during such meetings. The PDP chief spokesperson also came down heavily on the 'Opposition' which is crying hoarse over the 'Flood relief' announced by the central government. He reminded the 'Opposition' that they were governing the state when the entire valley was flooded and how the State Govt had just evaporated from the scene then.Beg added that those criticizing the 'Flood package' are merely doing so on the presumption that this is the final amount and termed is as only a 'beginning'.He said that the 'Opposition' also claims that the inflow of funds was a lot liberal under the UPA, then they must also tell the people as to where that money went, as no visible change was seen on the ground during their regime. The PDP chief spokesman added that the most challenging task ahead of the present Government was to undo the misgovernance and to overturn the erosion of the credibility of the CM's chair that the previous regime had left behind.Dr Beg said that the Omar Abdullah, former CM of J and K had gone on to say that he would only come to know through the media when any part of the state would be put under curfew and also that he was merely asked to take care of the law and order situation when Afzal Guru was sent to the gallows, which shows how obediently he would follow the diktats from the centre while choosing to remain a mute spectator to all of it.Dr Beg assured the 'Opposition' that they would see a perceptible change on the ground after 'one full working season'.
