The Committee on Petitions of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly led by its chairman Dr Rajan Pandey today visited the Assembly Secretariat Srinagar and called on the Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta.The Petitions Committee is on a study tour to Jammu and Kashmir to further their knowledge about the functioning of Legislative Assembly in state.

Kavinder Gupta had a detailed discussion with the committee about the system and working of Legislative Assembly in Madhya Pradesh. He also briefed the committee about the functioning of State Legislative Assembly including ensuring discipline during conduct of proceeding and new initiatives of imparting training to the legislators besides the Speaker briefed the committee about the formation of Jammu and Kashmir government and reasons behind it.Kavinder Gupta also informed the members about the initiatives being taken by the Coalition Government in the State to redress the grievances and demands of the people of all the three regions of the state besides highlighting various visionary initiatives being taken up for development of the state under the new regime.

The Speaker also exchanged the ideas with the committee and discussed about the similarities and variations of both the committees besides topography of the state. The Speaker also informed the team about the rules of procedures and conduct of business of houses.The other members of the committee, Choudhary Mukesh Singh Chaturvedi, Mr. Ram Singh Yadav, Mr. Bharat Singh Kushwah and Ms Shakuntla Khatik also accompanied the chairman of Petition Committee and sharing their views and experiences with the speaker.The Petition Committee also visited the different sections of the Assembly Secretariat and gave detailed briefed about the procedure of law.

Later, another Committee of legislators of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on Environment headed by its Chairman, Mr Raghunandan Mandal along with its member MLA, Mr Mithlesh Kumar Mishra met the Speaker in his office chamber.The Speaker informed the committee about the steps taken by the government for conservation of environment in the state. He also informed about the policy adopted by the government to ban the polythene bags, garbage from the public areas.

The committee members put forth their suggestions of improving the functioning of the committee besides sharing the cultural and social activities in both the states.The committee expressed its gratitude for good gesture of the Speaker and invited him to visit the Jharkhand.Among others, Secretary, J&K Legislative Assembly, Mr. M. Ramzan was also present on the occasion and apprised the committees about the functioning of the committees.
