Sopore Killings aftermath:Bounty on ‘HM militants’ from police

Following the mysterious killings of innocent people, police in Sopore town of North Kashmir have sought people’s help for providing information regarding two Hizbul Mujahideen militants in exchange of huge rewards.The posters in English with pictures of two militants operating in Sopore area appeared in the North Kashmir town on Tuesday. Police have sought people’s help for tracing these militants in exchange of cash reward of Rs ten lakhs.The posters pasted by police carries the details of the militants who according to police are responsible for the recent Sopore killings.

Those whose names and pictures appeared in posters and are wanted by police are Imtiyaz Ahmed Kandoo son of Abdul Khaliq resident of Kralteng Sopore and Abdul Qayoom Najar son of Abdul Ahad of Mumkak Sopore. A police official told CNS that one of them, Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandu is Divisional Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and he has been active in town from past many years.Pertinently, police had put up posters in September 2013 in Sopore town and had then requested people to help them nabbing HM Divisional Commnader Imtiyaz Ahmed Kandoo.

The posters pasted by police read that both the HM militants are equally responsible for the killing of five civilians including Sheikh Altaf-ur-Rehman son of Muhammad Yousuf of Iqbal Nagar Sopore, Muhammad Rafiq Dar son of Muhammad Akbar a resident of Pohrupet Handwara, Mehraj-u-Din Dar son of Ghulam Hasan of Badambagh Sopore, Khurshid Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam Nabi of Bomai Sopore and Ghulam Hasan Dar son of Abdul Khaliq Dar a resident of Dooru Sopore. The posters read that Abdul Qayoom Najar is involved in the killing of Abdul Rashid Dar son of Wali Muhammad of Drusoo Rafiabad and Sarpanch Ghulam Ahmed Bhat son Muhammad Jamal a resident of Bomai Sopore. Besides, according to police posters, Imtiyaz Ahmed Kandoo is responsible for the killing of four police personnel at Hygam Sopore, the incident that occurred in April 2013. Carrying phone numbers of SOG Sopore and PCR Sopore, the police posters read that the information providers name will be kept secret. (CNS)
