To express solidarity with and highlight the problems of lakhs of refugess living in different parts of the state, BJP leaders including Prabhari State BJP Shamarthi Cells Pt. Ashok Kumar Khajuria and Vijay Kumar Sharrna, Convenor State BJP Shamarthi Cell started their 24 hours long hunger sit-in protest at Satwari Chowk on Monday alongwith other leadersof the morcha in presence of BJP State President Jugal Kishore Sharma.Jugal Kishore Sharma, on this occasion, lambasted the state government for not adhering to the demands of lakhs of refugees who became homeless due to partition of the country in August 1947 and in October 1947, aggressions by Pakistan in 1965, 1971 and also continued disturbance on the border by Pakistan till now. He said that the Sharanarthi Cell is observing 24 hours hunger strike in connection with “Balidaan pas” to commemorate over 50,000 refugees who were massacred by Pakistan army,
Jugal Kishore Sharma appealed to the public in general and particularly refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 to unite themselves under one umbrella to teach a lesson to the leaders of different political leaders who continued to exploit them for their vested interests during the last 65 years and never took their cause seriously resulting in third generation of refugees is still fighting for their dues and permanent settlement. He further added that the recent disturbance at Samba and continued infiltration along LoC is nothing but unconcerned attitude of Centre government to tackle serious border issues at the cost of precious lives of security forces and civilians.
Earlier, Ashok Kumar Khajuria and Vijay Kumar Sharma flayed successive governments both at state as well Central level for cheating and ignoring their genuine issues during last over six decades. They said that the governments always made false promises and did nothing to resolve their issues.Highlighting their genuine demands the leaders appealed the public and refugees of 1947, 65 and 71 to come under one umbrella so that their interests are fought in one voice. The genuine demands of refreezing of 8 seats out of 24 legislative assembly seats reserve for the people in PoJK, compensation to displaced families rights to vote in J&K assembly and other demands should be aggressively fought unitedly. Till these demands are met, the cell will continue to agitate in democratic ways to seek justice, they declared.BJP leaders Vibodh Gupta,Satish Sharma, Sat Sharma, Vishwinder Dev Sharma, Charanjit Khalsa, Baldev Singh, Vikram Randhawa, Sat Pal Choudhary, Tarsem Choudhary, Ludharmani Sharma, Harbans Choudhary and Bharat Sharma also visited the venue to boost the morale of the Cell leaders for starting this hunger strike.
