Srinagar , 10 Jun 2015

Police are looking for a teen-age girl who fraudulently withdrew cash from two ATM booths twice in two months in Srinagar city. Police sources told CNS that a lady from Rawalpora registered a complaint that her purse containing Rs 20,000 cash and ATM card went missing while she was shopping at Gonihan Srinagar. “Unfortunately, the complainant had kept the pin number of the ATM card in the same purse. The Jammu and Kashmir Bank authorities confirmed that on the same day a burqa clad girl had made a transaction by using the same ATM card at Lal Ded ATM booth. The CCTV footage shows that the girl who withdrew cash (Rs 40,000) fraudulently was in a hurry while it was surprising to watch, that the security guard of the ATM booth had not bothered to ask that girl to reveal her half masked face towards the CCTV camera,” a police official told CNS adding that a case vide FIR number 42/2015 stands registered in police station Shergari.

Surprisingly, after the footage of the girl surfaced on social media networking sites, another lady from Hyderpora Gulbug colony approached the police station with the same complaint and the Bank authorities were shocked to see the same burqa clad girl was involved in the fraud but this time she had withdrawn the cash from the ATM located at Ikhwan Chowk Khayam.“It is negligence on part of the Bank security guard. Nobody is allowed to enter into the ATM, keeping his or her face covered. Even there are directions and guidelines that a card holder is bound to remove his cap or crash helmet while making a transaction at the ATM,” a JK Bank official told CNS on condition of anonymity.“The video of the suspected girl has already gone viral and we hope to get some leads from any quarter,” said a police official.
