A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), provisionally closed 245.40 points or 0.92 percent down on Monday.The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed 70.55 points or 0.87 percent down at 8,044.15 points.The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,814.31 points, closed the day's trade at 26,523.09 points, down 245.40 points or 0.92 percent from the previous day's close at 26,768.49 points.The Sensex touched a high of 26,827.06 points and a low of 26,472.87 points in the intra-day trade.
