Police-Public Cricket Premier League declared open

The high-profile cricketing extravaganza Police Public Cricket Premier League was declared open in a dazzling ceremony amid scintillating laser show and musical performances by Bollywood singers. The tournament was declared open by Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.The League a biggest cricketing tournament of its kind is organized by J&K police on the patterns of IPL so that the players and the spectators will feel the aroma of IPL. The tournament is being organized under the overall supervision & chairmanship of Director General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar and total amount of Rs.27.18 lacs will be awarded as Cash Prizes in this tournament.

Ten teams from across the state are competing in the tournament. The team owners selected their 16 member squad by choosing eight of their own while eight others were selected through bidding of 556 reputed players in an auction that was held in SKICC on June 1. The matches will be played at two venues Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium and Kashmir University equipped with will 3rd umpire review camera systems with BCCI trained Umpires.

The tournament was declared open by Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in grand opening ceremony that was hosted by renowned sports commentator Charu Sharma and attended by former Indian test player Mohammad Kaif and J&K Ranji team captain, Pervez Rasool.

Large number of people from all walks of life including students were enthralled by the scintillating performances in the opening ceremony that included Laser show by BV Mahesh, Illusion show by Mangesh Desai, fast painting by Jai Anand, dance shows, local folk cultural show and singing by renowned Bollywood singers Shri Ram Iyer. The audience were fascinated by the performances that were captured by cameras including the crane cameras and displayed on the three giant screens installed in the stadium.The Chief Minister released the theme song and tournament fixture, besides unveiling the PPCPL Trophy. Later, the Chief Minister also presented mementoes to Mohamamd Kaif and Pervez Rasool.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Chairman, Legislative Council, Inayat Ali, Minister for Revenue, Javed Mustafa Mir, Minister for Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Minister for IT, YS&S and Technical Education, Imran Raza Ansari, Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar, Minister for Cooperatives, Chering Dorjey, Minister of State for Health & Social Welfare, Asiya Naqash, legislators, besides several other senior officers of police administration, including ADGP Headquarters, S. P. Vaid, ADGP S M Sahai, IGP CID A G Mir, IGP Crime Munir Khan, IGP Hqr Arun Choudrey, IGP Personal Mukesh Singh IGP, Kashmir, SJM Gillani. DIG CKR Ghulam Hassan Bhat, DIG SKR Nitesh Kumar and Director SSG SA Mujtaba.
