Minister for Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Abdul Haq Khan today formally launched (UMEED) Scheme, the project under J&K State Rural Livelihood Mission, in Dooru Shahabad. The scheme is amid to provide better livelihood facilities to the women particularly in rural areas.After inauguration of the UMEED Scheme, the Minister addressing the gathering said that Scheme has brought great hope for poor women. The Scheme will enable to poor women not only to come out of the poverty but will raise their status in their communities. The Scheme is extensively focused on capacity building and strengthens of infrastructure.
The Minister said that due to the political change in the State, vital changes have occurred in every developmental sector with the aim to provide corruption free and accountable administration to the people. He said Government is committed for bringing revolutionary changes in the economic stability in the state particularly in rural areas.The MLA Dooru Syed Farooq Ahmad Indrabi appreciated for lunching of women development scheme in Bock Dooru Shahabad. The Dooru Shahabad has been brought under the UMEED Scheme which is the first Block brought under the Scheme in Kashmir Valley.The Mission Director (UMEED) J&K State Rural Livelihood Mission, Mr.Arun Manhas also spoke on the occasion and said that with the launch of the Scheme in Block Door Shahabad has reached to 17 Blocks in J&K.
He said by organizing poor people in to groups i.e. self help groups will not only help women in engaging themselves in gainful livelihood, but will contribute to development of society also. He said that 7000 self help groups have been formed in 17 Blocks of the state and Rs.14cr. credit was provided by various Banks during 2014-15 @ Rs.50,000 per group.The Minister was accompanied by MLA Dooru Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, Mission Director J&K Rural Livelihood (UMEED) Mr.Arun Manhass, Director Rural Development Mr.Tasaduq Jeelani, ADC Anantnag Mr. Mohammad Younis Malik, ACD Anantnag Mr.Gulzar Ahmad and SDM Dooru besides other senior officers of the administration.
