The Punjab Education Department today took a revolutionary step of delegating the power of deputing surplus staff and teachers under rationalisation plan to the District Education Officers and issued directions to complete the task by June 5 positively.Presiding over a meeting of education department Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema Education Minister said that there would be no compromise on providing staff to deficient schools and optimum utilisation of existing staff to provide quality education to the students. He said that the department has decided to do away with centralisation of posting and transfers and delegated powers to DEOs, who would take call on local felt needs of schools of the districts and depute surplus staff in the schools deficient of staff to ensure quality education to the students of all schools. The District Education Officers have been asked to submit compliance report by first week of June and erring DEOs failing to complete the task would be dealt severely.Prominent among others who were present in the meeting included Mr. C Roul, Principal Secretary, School Education, Mr. Balbir Singh Dhol, DPI (SS), Mrs. Pankaj Sharma, Director, SCERT, Dr. Ginni Duggal, Additional State Project Directors, all Branch heads and DEOs.
