Former union minister and AICC spokesperson Jitin Prasada on Monday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government for failing to revive economic growth and reduce inflation, as promised by him during the 2014 Lok Sabha election.Addressing a press conference here, Prasada pointed out that Modi stormed to power riding on the promises of good governance, creation of 10 crore jobs in five years and a digital India but failed to deliver. "Modi spoke to economists and industry experts about a new economic blueprint for India, but a year has passed and this blueprint seems to have turned into a headline-grabbing exercise," the former minister of state for human resource development said.

The Congress leader said that the quest for personal propaganda, event management and attractive slogans had made the Modi government a "catch-headline government" rather than "catch-investment government".Prasada said that the country had witnessed the highest ever economic growth during the Congress-led UPA government's 10-year rule from 2004, with the Indian economy growing at an average of 7.6 percent per annum. The Congress leader accused the central government of lacking in economic vision and fiscal direction and said that even senior BJP leader Arun Shourie had adjudged the government as devoid of financial direction."Even the corporate and industrial houses are losing confidence in the Modi magic and now India Inc wants him to effect delivery rather than mere dialogues," he added.
