Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday flagged off eight mobile forensic vans from his official residence and these will be go to eight zones - Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Allahabad, Varanasi and Bareilly - in the first phase. In the second phase, these mobile vans would be sent to 67 districts. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that these vans would aid police in nabbing culprits as these vans are equipped to conduct preliminary investigation facilities related to biology, serology, chemicals, explosives, narcotics and fire arms.

These forensic vans with help of scentists would go a long way in collecting on-crime-spot evidence and management of the crime scene successfully, said Akhilesh Yadav, adding that the Samajwadi Party government was committed to sprucing up law and order and was making efforts to wed modern technology to basic policing. It was under this endeavour, he noted, that ultra-modern control rooms have been established in Kanpur and Lucknow. The chief minister also said that only recently in Lucknow, smart city surveillance 'Drishti', public CCTV project 'Ek Nazar; Ek Ummeed' and air surveillance project using drone cameras have been started to rein in criminals and expressed hope that such efforts would bear fruit and ensure effective improvement of law and order.
