Virbhadra Singh appreciates the role of Bharat Scouts and Guides

The youth can play a formidable role in strengthening the Nation and Bharat Scouts and Guides is playing a pivotal role in this direction by instilling in the youth the discipline required for building a healthy society.This was stated by Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh while presiding over the ‘Rashtrapati Scouts and Guides and Nipun Rovers and Rangers Samagam’ at Haripur  (Manali) in Kullu district today.He said that the State government was committed to promote the activities of the Bharat Scouts and Guides and to achieve the objective Rs 4.58 crore State Training Institute was being set up at Rewalser in district Mandi.He said that 1271 schools and 18 colleges were being brought under this training programme and the government was endeavouring to incorporate the activities of Bharat Scouts and Guides in all the educational institutions of the State. 

The Chief Minister said that the youth should channelize their energy to build a strong and vibrant nation and it was a matter of satisfaction that Bharat Scouts and Guides were contributing significantly in this direction. He exhorted the youth to inculcate the spirit of Nationalism in the coming generations and also work extensively for preservation of our ancient traditions and culture. He said that the youth should channelise their energy towards constructive purposes for a better future. He said that there were numerous schemes initiated by the government for the welfare of the youth. An ambitious Skill Development Allowance Scheme was being implemented in the State wherein a sum of Rs 1000 per month was being provided to the youth for polishing their skills whereas Rs 1500 were being provided to the differently abled per month.

Shri Virbhadra Singh said that the government was making all out efforts to provide quality education to children at their door steps and a provision of Rs 5077 crore had been made for this sector in the present fiscal. He said that the government had also initiated measures for providing career guidance and counselling besides training in all the Government Middle schools and colleges.

He congratulated the Bharat Scouts and guides for organising this state level congregation in which more than 700 students from various schools and colleges participated. He also distributed certificate of participation to as many as 127 president awardees students of Bharat Scouts and Guides from Himachal Pradesh.Earlier, Director Higher Education Shri Dinkar Burathoki, who is also State Chief Commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides thanked the Chief Minister for providing a sum of rupees one crore for undertaking construction of State level Training Institute at Rewalser.He said that Himachal was coveted with Silver Elephant Award for outstanding performance of Bharat Scouts and Guides.He also detailed about the activities of the Scouts and Guides and Rovers & Rangers. MLA Shri Karan Singh, Chairman, Wool Federation, Shri Raghuvir Thakur, Chairman Zila Parishad, Kullu, Shri Harichand Sharma, DCC President, Shri Bhudi Singh Thakur, BCC President Shri Bhuneshwar Gaud, Congress leader Shri Dharamvir Dhami, Deputy Commissioner, Kullu Shri Rakesh Kanwar were also present on the occasion amongst others.
