An impressive function was held at Doda, where hundreds of Congress workers attended to launch the membership drive of the Congress party in the presence of Senior PCC leaders.A large number of Congress workers from all parts of Doda district attended an impressive function here today in which senior congress leaders launched the membership drive of the party.Prominent those present include S/Shri Ghulam Mohammad Saroori-Vice President PCC, Mohammad Sharief Niaz-Sr. Congress leader and former minister, Shri Abdul Majid Wani and Shri Yogesh Sawhney former ministers and General Secretaries of PCC, Shri Naresh Gupta-(MLC) President DCC Doda, Secretaries PCC Ashok Dogra-Ex-MLA, Imtiyaz Khandey and other senior leaders of the party.Addressing the gathering the senior Congress leaders said that the Congress is the only secular force which has its presence in all parts of the country and all regions of the state and amongst each section of the Indian Society. They said that Congress is a strong unifying force in view of its policies and programmes and secular out look and strengthening of Congress means strengthening of the unity and integrity of the country.
The senior congress leaders asked the party workers to approach all sections especially the downtrodden sections and enroll them as members of the party in order to strengthen Congress in every nook and corner of the state to promote atmosphere brotherhood and harmony in the society and to march on the path of peace progress and prosperity. They said that it was the result of the Congress polices and the programmes of the UPA government headed by Dr. Manmohan Singh under the dynamic Congress leadership of Smt. Sonia Gandhi that J&K got liberal financial support for all sectors during the UPA governments. They also appreciated the contributions of Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad for the state and the backward Doda district witnessed massive development in all spheres. They were critical of the policies of the present government in the state and the centre as a result the development works and the progress of the district has come to a stand still and asked the people to unitedly raise their voice against anti people and anti youth policies of the state and centre government.
