The Punjab government has enhanced the amount of honorarium to be paid to all Mayors, Senior Deputy Mayors, Deputy Mayors and Councillors of all Municipal Corporations. It was disclosed was Mr. Anil Joshi, Minister for Local Bodies, Punjab in a press communiqué released here today.Joshi said that that the department has given its nod to the proposal of enhancement in the honorarium of all Mayors, Senior Deputy Mayors, Deputy Mayors and Councillors of all Municipal Corporations. He said that the honorarium has been hiked one and half fold. Divulging further detail he said that the honorarium of Mayor has been hiked from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 per month, Senior Deputy Mayor from Rs. 16,000 to Rs. 24,000 and Deputy Mayor from Rs.12, 500 to Rs.18, 725 per month. Similarly the constituency allowance for Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor has been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 per month and Telephone allowance from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,000 per month.The Minister said that the constituency allowance for the Councillors has been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 per month where as Telephone allowance for the Councillor has been enhanced from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 3,000 per month.
