The Punjab government has started the vaccination campaign in the state for the cattle to prevent them from an acute infectious disease known as Gal-Ghotu (Heamorrhagic Septicaemia) with a set target to vaccinate 72 lakh cattle under this campaign. Giving a clarion call to farmers and cattle rearers in the state, Animal Husbandry Minister Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike exhorted them to take full advantage of this massive campaign, which will remain in process till May 15.  The Minister said that last year 62.70 lakh cattle in the state had been vaccinated under this campaign and the state has set a target of 72 lakh cattle for ongoing campaign. He said the campaign will culminate before the commencement of rainy season so farmers and cattle rearers could get their mulching cattle including cows, buffalos, sheep, goats, pigs etc vaccinated by paying just Rs. 2 for per vaccination.
