On the directions of Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister Punjab, Special teams of the Education Department conducted surprise checks in 667 Schools of the State with the aim of ensuring punctuality and discipline in the Schools. Three Circles namely Jalandhar, Faridkot and Nabha (Patiala) were visited by the special teams at the same time.Divulging the details a spokesperson of the department said that during the special checking total 30 teachers were found absent while 43 teachers were late whereas 24 teachers were found long time absentees. He said that immediately after opening the schools special teams visited 260 schools of Jalandhar Circle, 227 schools of Nabha (Patiala) Circle and 180 schools of Faridkot Circle.He further said that 29 teachers were found absent in Jalandhar Circle and 43 were late comers while 11 found long time absentee. In Nabha (Patiala) Circle 1 teacher was found absent and 9 were long time absentee. Similarly, in Faridkot Circle 4 teachers were found long time absentee.The Spokesman said that to maintain discipline and punctuality in the Government Schools special and surprise checking would continue in future also. The Minister also directed to the senior officers that 100 percent attendance of the teachers would be ensured.
