Welcoming the new compensation policy announced for the farmers, whose crops were damaged by the untimely rains and hailstorm, by the Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, the Punjab BJP President Sh. Kamal Sharma has said that the BJP-led union government is concerned with the farming community and is their real well-wisher. He has expressed gratitude towards PM for taking a big step forward for the welfare of the farmers.In a statement issued here today, Sh. Sharma said that as per the new policy, the union government has increased the compensation amount by 50 per cent in case the crops are damaged because of any natural calamity. He further said that besides the limit for assessment of damage has also been brought down from 50 per cent to 33 per cent. 

Sharma said that with the new policy, the farmers will get 1.5 times more compensation and by bringing the limit of damage to 33 per cent, more number of farmers will be able to get monetary relief.Sh. Sharma said that because of the untimely rains in the month of March and April in northern India, the wheat crop ready for cultivation has suffered damage, because of which the farmers were extremely upset. He further said that without wasting any time the centre government has given respite to farming community by announcing compensation even before the harvest. He said that the PM has also instructed the Banks to disburse the loans in a speedy manner to the farmers besides directing the insurance companies to give the compensation at the earliest possible.  

BJP President Sh. Kamal Sharma informed that in his Radio programme “Mann Ki Baat”, PM had assured that the union government will stand by the farmers in the need of crisis and every step will be taken to safeguard their rights. By announcing the farmer friendly compensation policy, Sh. Modi has proved his commitment towards the agrarian sector. He further said that from past long time, the Opposition was trying to project PM’s image as anti-farmers but with the compensation policy announcement, Sh. Modi has shown that he is the real well-wisher of farmers. Sh. Sharma hailed the decision and expressed his gratitude towards the PM.
