Minister for Roads & Buildings Abdul Majid Wani while replying to a question by Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah during the Question Hour in the Legislative Council today informed the House that widening and strengthening of Bani-Daggar road having a length of 6 kms was taken-up in April, 2007 at a cost of Rs. 8.51 crore by ERA and 22 per cent physical progress has been achieved by spending Rs. 2.07 crore.The Minister further informed that the contract was terminated in May 2012 and thereafter, the work was transferred to R&B department in August 2012 after formulating fresh project appraisal report for the rest of the work for an amount of Rs. 7.10 Crore.

 Wani informed that the work on 7 kms road from Chalog- Dhaman (7th kms to 13th kms) up to Duggan Dhaman has been taken-up at a cost of Rs. 5.16 crore under PMGSY, Phase-VI on which 47 per cent work has been completed so far. The DPRs for 18.40 kms road of Chalog  to Dhaman ( 14kms to 31.40 kms) costing Rs. 16.91 crore has been scrutinized by the STA and under submission to NRRDA under Phase-X for sanction, he added.The BRO authorities have intimated that the road from Bani to Chenani via Dudu Basantgarh is not under their jurisdiction as defence road, the Minister maintained.The Minister further informed that the Government plans to formulate State Road Authority to enable the State to oversee the construction of roads under BRO and NHAI. The step will help in better upkeep and maintenance of these roads, he maintained.Mr. Subash Gupta and Mr. Naresh Gupta also raised the supplementaries to the question.
