Punjab Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi today said that the Mayors of the 6 Municipal Corporations SAS Nagar Mohali, Bathinda, Moga, Hoshiarpur, Pathankkot and Phagwara would be elected till April 2, 2015.In a press statement Mr. Joshi said that written instructions to concerned six Deputy Commissioners have been issued and they have been directed to make all necessary arrangements for the election of mayors of 6 Municipal Corporations till April 2. He said that the MLA concerned would be eligible to take part in the Election process and cast his/her vote.Joshi further said that in the instructions issued by the department, it would be mandatory to call first meeting of the Elected Representative by serving 72 hrs notice to all elected members with intimation to the concerned MLA. He said that in the first meeting all the elected representative took oath. Afterwards, including MLA concerned they would elect the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and other members. It has also been instructed to send the details of the elected president to the Director of the Local Bodies for Publication in Government Gazette. Similarly the convenor of the meeting would send the proceeding and minutes of the meeting.
