District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET) Srinagar in collaboration with Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) organised Art Mela under RMSA at Bemina today.Minister of State for School Education, IT, Science and Technology, Mr. Feroz Ahmed Khan was the Chief Guest on the occasion.Joint Director, SIE, Mohammad Javed, Principal, DIET Srinagar, Munshi Mohammad Javed, Vice Principal, DIET, S. Sheikh Tariq and officers of education department were present on the occasion. Around 70 students drawn from eight zones of Srinagar district participated in the Art Mela.
Addressing the function, the Minister said that the students of the State are extremely talented not only in studying science and humanities but they also have inclination towards drawing and Art. He said that every effort should be made to provide necessary facilities to them so that their hidden talent is explored and they are encouraged at all level.Mr. Feroz said that although the drawing teachers are not available in the schools, still children show their ability in Art and crafts.Responding to the demand of introducing Drawing subject in the curriculum, Mr. Feroz assured that he will take up the matter with Government so that faculty is recruited for the purpose and the subject is introduced as early as possible.Later, the Minster distributed prizes among first five meritorious students and certificates of participation among other students. First five winners were Aabru Nisar, Umar Bashir, Shahnavaz, Sanna and Arsalan Bashir.Vice Principal presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
