Indian and Pakistani troops Tuesday exchanged fire in a bid to stop bunker fortification on either side of the international border in Jammu district."At 11.57 p.m. today Pakistan Rangers fired 22 rounds of small arms from their Thathi border outpost towards Nawa Pind outpost of the BSF in R. S. Pura Sector while BSF troopers were working with an earth moving machine," a senior police officer told IANS in winter capital Jammu Tuesday. "The work was stopped by our troops who retaliated by firing 11 rounds of small arms."

"At 12.05 p.m. today BSF troops observed five to six Pakistan Rangers along with a light motor vehicle working in front of their Unche Wains border outpost around 350 meters beyond the zero line in Pakistan area opposite the Baqarpur outpost of the BSF in R. S. Pura Sector," the police officer said. "BSF troops warned them to stop the work but all in vain. Later our troops fired 11 to 12 rounds of small arms in the air towards Pakistan's Unche Wains outpost. The Rangers fled from the scene leaving behind their vehicle," the officer added.
