National SC Commission Lauds Punjab For Saanjh Kendras And 181 Police Helpline

Commission To Send Recommendation For Replication Of Same Across The Country

Chairman National SC Commission  P.L Punia today lauded the initiatives of Punjab taken in the field of Governance Reforms especially of SAANJH KENDRAS and 181 Police Helpline for the facilitation of common masses curtailing their harassment in public offices.Punia along with members of National SC Commission was here to review the issues and schemes for the welfare of SC communities in the state. After having detailed information about the concept of SAANJH KENDRAS and 181 police helpline the Commission said it will examine the features of these projects in detail and then will sent a communiqué to Centre for replicating the same in other states. He said these reforms were the major achievements of Punjab, which should be followed by others for transparent administration and effective governance.  

Reviewing the issues pertaining to SC Communities in Punjab here at UT Guest House, Mr. Punia said the Commission visited Punjab earlier in 2011 and today they were here to take stock of SC Schemes. The Commission also sought the information of various schemes being provided to SC Communities including reservation, recruitment, promotion, backlog, literacy rate, status of BPL families and education.Punia also issued necessary directions to civil and police officers in this regard. Chairman accompanied by Vice Chairman of National Commission Mr. Raj Kumar Verka, Mr. Raju Parmar, Mr. Ishwar Singh and Mrs. K.M. Kamlama all members of commission and Secretary Dr. Vinod Aggarwal also appreciated the functioning of State SC Commission for tirelessly working for the cause of SCs in the state. He also assured State SC Commission Chairman Mr. Rajesh Bagha that National Commission will extend all cooperation and assistance to state commission. He said they will also work shoulder to shoulder for implementation of centrally sponsored welfare schemes for SCs.  

Prominent amongst those present in the meeting Punjab Chief Secretary Mr. Sarvesh Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Jagpal Singh Sandhu, Financial Commissioner Revenue Mr. Karan Avtar Singh and senior officers including Mr. Vishwajit Khanna, Mr. Vikas Partap, Mr. Husan Lal, Mr. Ashok Kumar Gupta, Mrs. Seema Jain, Mr. Vikas Garg, Mr. Pardeep Aggarwal, ADGP Crime Mr. V.K. Bhawra, Mr. Paramjit Singh, Mr. V.K. Meena, Mr. Sukhjit Pal Singh and member SC Commission Punjab Mr. Parkash Singh Gardhiwala etc.
