Aryans celebrates National Road Safety Week

In order to create awareness among the commuters, Aryans College of Education, Chandigarh celebrated Road Safety week. The week was observed from 11th to 17th January. The awareness drives followed with campaigns with the motto “Speed Kills not thrills, obey the traffic rules” were launched by students of Nursing, B.Ed, BA and B.Com.  The group was led by Principal, Aryans College of Education, Dr. Manjula Kataria and Registrar, Aryans Group of Colleges, Prof. B.S Sidhu.The team organized many activities in the nearby villages by raising slogan on the theme. Various informative banners and leaflets were also used by the students. They also performed “Nukkad Natak” to spread awareness among the people. Students interacted with the commuters and made them aware that about the traffic rules, laws and orders, medical aid in accidental case etc. 

Principal, Aryans College of Education, Dr Manjula Kataria while commenting on the Road Safety campaign said that today, most accidents are caused due to driver negligence and improper road etiquette. Hence, it is our responsibility to educate people about road safety.

 Registrar, Aryans Group of Colleges, Prof. B.S Sidhu appraised the efforts made by the students to spread the awareness to college drivers, Villagers. He added that through activities at various touch points, staff and students tried their best trying to educate the drivers of today and the generation of tomorrow, thereby helping them to imbibe values of road safety from a young age.”It is to be mentioned that road Safety today is a key social & safety concern in India and we have a huge population of road commuters using 2 Wheeler & 4 Wheeler as a mode of transport daily. Approximately 85,000 people are killed in road accidents and 1.2 million meet with serious injuries every year in India alone, causing an annual social economic loss of Rs.55,000

Crores.
