National Conference (NC) General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar Saturday said the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are assets for the National Conference and they have a vital role to play in shaping the future of the state. While addressing the NC youth district presidents of Kashmir province here at the party headquarters, he stressed upon the youth to read about the sacrifices offered by elders who from the beginning remained fastened to the principles of the party to strengthen it.“You are the assets of this party. History is witness to the fact that the supreme sacrifices offered by the leaders and the workers of NC are an unforgettable chapter in the history of the state,” Sagar told the gathering.

“National Conference laid the foundations of such a society where justice to everyone, prosperity and development are a paramount. The progressive and prosperous six years of Omar Abdullah’s government saw political and socio-economic empowerment of the youth,” Sagar said and added “The national award given to the state of Jammu and Kashmir for best performance in the e-governance sector speaks loud and clear for itself that Omar sahib’s tenure was a golden era from people of the state.”He said National Conference always stood for protecting the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The party workers should play their role in informing the younger generation about the development done by the NC for all three regions of the state. The prominence of NC among people lies in the fact that our party always worked for the weaker sections of the state and took every move to uplift them,” he said.Pinpointing the achievements of Omar Abdullah’s tenure as Chief Minister, Sagar said these years witnessed a lot development in the state and the pro-youth initiatives taken by Omar Abdullah are historic.

“The pro-youth initiatives like Himayat Scheme, SKEWP, Udaan and Centre’s Scholarships for youth, were a gift by Omar Abdullah to the youth of the state. It was only during his tenure that 500 youth returned from Pakistan Administered Kashmir through rehabilitation policy who are now living a peaceful life with their families,” he said. He added that in the last six years our government worked hard to bring peace and prosperity to the state, the results of which were witnessed in the recent elections in which over 70% people used their democratic franchise and came out to cast their votes.

“We reconstituted the State Accountability Commission (SAC) and constituted the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) to wage a war against corruption in J&K. Today we have succeeded in drastically reducing corruption in our State and have come a long way from the disrepute of J&K being the most corrupt State in the country.”“It was our government that worked to generate 1750 Mega-watt electricity through which in the coming eight years, our state will be enabled to generate 9thousand Mega-watt electricity across the state,” he said.
