Punjab Police party positioned in Bangkok is bringing Jagtar Singh Tara to India today after his extradition by Thailand.  Sh. Rajinder Singh Sohal, DSP/Rajpura camped in Bangkok since January 13, 2015 for liaison and co-ordination with the Thai authorities and a 3-member police team headed by Sh. Tejinderjit Singh Virk, DSP/Counter Intelligence reached Bangkok on January 15, 2015. After completion of administrative formalities, Jagtar Singh Tara has been handed over to the Punjab Police team today. Jagtar Singh Tara, Chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) was nabbed in Thailand on January 5, 2015 on culmination of an operation developed in co-ordination with central agencies based on specific leads provided by Punjab Police. The operation had started in August 2014 when the Counter Intelligence wing of the Punjab Police had tracked Jagtar Singh Tara to Thailand. A Thailand court ordered his extradition on January 7, 2015. Punjab Police remained in constant touch with central agencies and Thailand authorities for expediting the administrative measures for his extradition and on successful completion, extradition has been effected on January 16, 2015. 

The Punjab Police team along with Jagtar Singh Tara is returning to India by a flight leaving Bangkok at 7.30 pm Indian time (8.50 pm Thai time) which will reach Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi at 12.05 am in the intervening night of January 16-17, 2015. A separate Punjab Police party headed by Sh. Jaskaran Singh Teja, Superintendent of Police, Detective, Patiala has been deputed to bring Jagtar Singh Tara from the Delhi airport to Patiala. Necessary liaison with the Airport Authorities has been effected. Jagtar Singh Tara would be produced in the competent court in Patiala where police remand for his questioning would be sought.
