Barnala Police Foils Attempt To Revive Terrorism-Arrests Kingpin

The District Barnala police today foiled an attempt to revive terrorism with the arrest of the main ‘kingpin’ of such activities in Barnala area identified as Surinder Singh resident of Theekriwal, presently residing at Barnala. The police also recovered two pistols of .32 bore and .315 bore along with cartridges, provocative literature and  a diary containing local and international numbers.    

Disclosing this here today, Mr. Narinder Kaushal, SP (H) and Mr. Swaran Singh Khanna SP (D) said that on a tip off, the CIA Staff Barnala arrested Surinder Singh on the charge of operating terrorist activities after establishing links with Satnam Singh, main operator of activities of Babbar Khalsa, who had also been arrested by Fatehgarh Sahib police recently. They said that Surinder Singh was trying to lure the youngsters in such unlawful activities by attracting them with the money got from foreign countries through western union and other modes of transactions.

They said that during preliminary investigations, Surinder Singh admitted that he was in touch with Daljit Singh Bittu, Baba Bakshish Singh Najamani Wala, Jassa Mankiwala, Gurpreet Singh Mullanpur accused of Shingar Cinema Blast, Mandeep Singh of Sahnewal incident, Jagtar Singh Hawara, Navtej Singh Batala Phoola Singh Nihang Case, Balbir Singh Bhotna, who were involved in terrorist activities. He said that further investigations were on and a case under section 124-A, 153-A, 153-B, 120-B of Indian Penal Act and section 17,18,28,38,39 and 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention Act) and section 25/54 and 59 of Arms Act at Barnala.
