Member Parliament Bathinda, Mrs. Harsimrat Badal expressed her displeasure over the insensitivity of the Sikh Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh who had neither raised his voice in favor of his own religion nor had ever protected the identity of the Sikhs.Speaking at a public rally in district Mansa, she made a fervent appeal to the entire Sikh community across the globe to join hands against the well planned strategy aiming at demolishing the most courageous and fearless community in the world. She expressed her deep sense of regret that the mere identity of Sikh religion was under constant threat. The Sikh community was being identified with terrorist outfits because of the “turban” especially after the terrorist attacks by Osama-Bin-laden. This has not only scared the innocent Sikh brethren but they have been attacked and murdered in the gurudwaras in the foreign countries. They have been humiliated because of their sacred religious symbols so much so they have to remove the turban to get the driving license issued in France; they have also been asked to remove their turbans while undergoing security checks at the airports. Even "countries like Cuba have imposed restrictions on the movements of the Sikhs wearing the religious symbols. Isn’t it a deliberate effort to demolish the Sikhism from the world"?
On the second day of the ongoing sangat darshan in district Mansa, she took stock of various development projects in progress and released a grant of Rs. 2 crore for the timely execution of various development works of the area. She accompanied by Mr. Surjit Singh rakhra Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Punjab also laid a foundation stone of Resource Centre worth Rs. 2 crore coming up at Mansa. Later she also flagged off the PRTC AC bus plying from Bareta to Amritsar. She listened to the grievances of the people and asked the district administration to immediately redress the grievances of the rural areas of Mansa.
Lashing out at the Congress led UPA government at the centre for the ever increasing prices of essential commodities, Mrs. Badal said that the prices of essential commodities have gone out of reach for the common man, making it almost impossible for him to run a family. The economically weaker sections and families of large number of workers in unorganized sectors have been the worst affected as their wages are not commensurate with the price rise. The Congress has to bear the wrath of the people of India who are going to throw them out of power in the coming general elections in the country.Badal also said that there was no delay and harassment in disbursing the pension amount to the eligible beneficiaries in Punjab. She urged the people to help the government in deleting the names of bogus pension beneficiaries, if any so that the eligible could get the uninterrupted monetary benefits.
