Shiromani Akali Dal today mocked at the excuses made by the Punjab Congress President Partap singh Bajwa for failure of Dharnas organized by the Congress at district levels yesterday,  saying tomorrow Bajwa could well blame the gravitational force for the fall of his political career. In a statement issued here, senior Akali leader Maheshinder Singh Grewal said Bajwa could not defend himself by holding bad weather responsible for the failure of Dharnas organized by the Punjab Congress yesterday. "It was colder at the international border but Lakhs of Punjabis congregated at the three Dharnas organised by the SAD at Attari, Hussaniwala and Sadiqi". He said in direct contrast the dharna organised by the Congress president in Jalandhar attracted less than 300 persons.

Grewal advised Bajwa to hold himself up to high standards as befitting the president of the state unit of a national party. "However your behaviour is something which is not befitting even a block president. "No wonder even block presidents of your party are demanding your resignation what to speak of your senior leaders who boycott your functions and even call you foolish". Grewal said the utter failure of the Congress Dharnas had now made it even more important for Mr Bajwa to put in his papers. "The District level Dharnas of your party even saw 40 to 50 persons collecting at some places. This speaks of the confidence the Congress rank and file us in you. You should now oblige the cadre and submit your resignation immediately", the akali leader said.

Holding Congress responsible for enacting conspiracies to defame and harm Punjab, Mr. Grewal said that during its regime Congress governments had always adopted anti Punjab practices but Punjab congress leadership never dared to raise their voice. “Now when people of Punjab have rejected their policies Congress leadership is now working in league with anti national forces by itself running a negative propoganda against Punjabis". He said Punjabis were however wise enough to judge such conspiracies. "This was the reason that they did not respond to Dharna calls of congress party but participated enthusiastically in the rallies organized by Shiromani Akali Dal to start awareness against drugs and also make the anti drug drive of the Punjab government a national movement”, Mr Grewal added.
