With Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Monday dropping hints that it could go with BJP for the formation of a stable government, the Congress Monday cautioned PDP against any such move and said that alliance with BJP will be the suicidal for the party.Senior Congress leader Taj Mohi-ud-Din said that if PDP leaders claim to be real friends of Kashmiri people then they should not go with the BJP. “For PDP the decision will be suicidal as it will endanger their existence in Kashmir. The PDP should know that people of Kashmir voted in favour of them only to stop BJP in the valley. I think that PDP- BJP government will be disastrous for the Kashmiri people as the BJP’s agenda is against Kashmiri people,” Taj Mohi-ud-Din told KNS.

He claimed that BJP wants to separate Jammu from Kashmir. “The fractured mandate has shown how BJP has secured 25 seats by drawing a communal line between Muslims and Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir. BJP has pided people on regional and religious lines. This is a very dangerous situation. They never want peace and solution of the Kashmir issue,” the Congress leader claimed.“PDP is the single largest party and in the interests of Kashmir they should join hands with the secular parties to keep the BJP at bay,” he said and alleged that the BJP was against the reconciliation process which was initiated by the government for the people who have crossed the Line of Control and they even want to scrap the policy.

“The BJP will never be in the favour of revocation of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act or AFSPA, and there are apprehensions that after becoming the part of the government the party will try to scrap the Article 370, which grants special status to J&K,” Taj said. The PDP has won 28 seats and BJP won the 25 and both have been exploring various possibilities for government formation since election results on December 23 threw up a hung Assembly. The PDP emerged as the single largest party winning 28 seats, followed by BJP's 25, National Conference's 15 and the Congress's 12 seats. The Governor has set January 19 as a deadline for government formation in the state.KNS
