Declaring that he is not retiring from politics and has no regrets over his loss during the recent state elections, senior Congress leader Taj-Mohi-ud-din Sunday said he is not sorry for what he has done in the past.“I am not retiring from politics at all. The reports that suggest that I am bidding farewell to the politics are incorrect. A sincere politician never retires and I will continue my services in whatever capacity I can for the people of the state,” Taj told KNS.Taj who served as the minister both in Congress-PDP coalition and NC-Congress coalition from 2002 said he has done remarkable work for his constituency and interms of development, his constituency Uri is number 1.he maintained that the basic reason for his recent defeat was the anti-incumbency wave in Jammu and Kashmir and that people wanted change in the governance in JK. “It is the human nature that people always believe that there are green pastures on the other side of the fence.

Same has happened to the state at present. We have been ruling in Jammu and Kashmir from the last more than 12 years. It is the time when people  wanted change on ground. It was their will and we all must respect the verdict of the people,” Taj said. He added further that for the whitewash of the Congress in Jammu region, it was the wave of Modi which was responsible for it. “Call it the Modi wave, wave of hindutva or polarization- this was the main factor behind the drubbing of Congress in Jammu. In Valley, there was anti-incumbency factor which proved detrimental for the loss of both big and small guns in JK politics.”

The senior Congress leader claimed that he has done a lot for his constituency and from zero, he took it to the new heights of development. “I have no regrets. I am not sorry to what has happened. There was a factor responsible and that is it.”Taj also ridiculed the reports that he is retiring from politics after he lost his seat to NC’s Mohammad Shafi Uri. “I will continue my services and will not retire. I will serve my people in whatever capacity I can.”
