The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary advised the Sashstra Seema Bal (SSB) to face challenges with commitment and confidence. He was addressing the 51st Raising Day function of SSB, here today. Chaudhary lauded the services of SSB at the borders of Indo-Bhutan and Indo-Nepal and said that the SSB is playing an important role in curbing anti-national activities and international crime, narcotics, wildlife trade, arms peddling, smuggling of antique idols etc. He also appreciated the friendly nature of their service and hoped that SSB will play a crucial role in protecting the borders and maintain good relations with friendly neighbouring countries. The Minister also lauded the role played by the SSB in Jammu & Kashmir and Left Wing Extremism effected states. He lauded the role played by the SSB in conducting various pilgrimages in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
The Minister of State for Home Affairs also lauded the role played by the SSB in successful implementation of the popular civic action porgrammes like Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana and Swachch Bharat Abhiyan. The Minister also lauded the role played by the SSB in rescue and relief operations during the disasters. The Minister advised the force to adopt technology in disuburing their duties. The parade was followed by a colourful display by SSB troops, dog squad and motorcycle riders. The programme was attended by the Chief of Royal Bhutan Police, Shri Kipchu Namgyel and Inspector General Armed Police Force Nepal, Shri Kosh Raj Onta. The Director General, SSB, Shri B.D. Sharma, the Secretary, Border Management, MHA, Smt. Sneh Lata Kumar and other senior officers of SSB were also present on the occasion.
