Additional General Secretary National Conference, Mustafa Kamal Monday said that NC will continue to fight for the revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), from the state. In a statement issued here, Kamal said it was because of the voice raised by the National Conference that the issue of revocation of AFSPA was debated across major forums in the country.“Because National Conference persisted with the demand of revoking the AFSPA from Jammu and Kashmir, it became the reason that justice was done in the cases of Machil fake encounter and the recent Budgam killings,” Kamal said while addressing election rallies and public meetings in Rajouri Jammu. He claimed since the day one NC stood for upholding the human rights in the state and offered huge sacrifices to save people of the state from tyranny.“It was NC government that made amendments in the public safety act (PSA). The huge sacrifices offered by the National Conference especially by its founder Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah who spent most of his time in incarceration was only because to protect the human rights of the citizens of this state,” he said.
“And in the last six years Omar Abdullah went all-out safeguarding the rights of the citizens.”He added that the as soon as Omar Abdullah took over as the chief minister of the state, he declared Kashmir issue as a political issue and paved the way for its resolution.“The law and order situation in the valley has improved a lot over last six years, and Omar Abdullah’s pro-peace initiatives raised the demand of reducing the footprints of army personnel in the state and the revocation of AFSPA,” he said.He said National Conference is the only political custodian of J&K’s honour and political inpiduality; besides, a repository of thousands of sacrifices that have been rendered ever since National Conference came into being to fight suppression, autocracy and injustice.
He appealed people of Jammu region to vote for national conference candidates keeping in mind the huge number of sacrifices offered by NC for Hindu-Muslim-Sikh unity in the region. He asked people to maintain caution over the pisive forces actively working in the region.“PDP, Congress and BJP have always worked against the unity of the people of state and they are responsible for eroding the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.He said Mufti Sayeed who is responsible for giving Kashmir some of its darkest and bloodiest chapters in a decade long history is working on a hidden agenda of BJP.
