People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Habba Kadal Zafar Meraj Thursday paid visit to the Dal dwellers who were affected by recent floods and assured them of possible help.Continuing his door-to-door campaign, Meraj visited many areas of constituency which include Dalgate, KonKhan, Nayi Sadak, Kharechi Mohalla, Mir Mohallla, Sheikh Mohalla, Golden Lake, Abinowpura and various other areas.

Meraj while interacting with floods victims assured them that they will be rehabilitated. “The condition of these people who are living on banks or inside Dal Lake is pathetic. Recent floods have washed away everything but the ruling government has done nothing till now,” he said. The victims blamed the present government for paying them meager compensations despite being badly hit by floods. Meraj promised that he will do his best if voted to power. “Ever since floods took away everything, these people are living on roadside in a tent. They have small kids and have not received any help so far. The Government had promised to provide them pre-fabricated structures but nothing has done so far,” Meraj said.

PDP candidate for Habba Kadal Zafar Meraj also promised the Dal dwellers that proper drainage system will be setup to save the famous Dal Lake from pollution. “The whole garbage and other pollutants are thrown into Dal Lake which is dangerous. Dal is world famous and we have to preserve it.For that we have to develop a good drainage system. But it is possible only if you lend your support to me and my party,” he said. Many inhabitants while venting anger on ruling government asked Meraj to do something for their proper rehabilitation. Meraj promised that those living in ordinary sheds and tents will be allotted piece of land where they can live a comfortable life.
