Terming the statement of UN secretary general Ban-Ki Moon in which he has emphasized on the need of resolving Jammu Kashmir dispute through dialogue as a welcome step, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) incarcerated chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik Tuesday said that this statement clearly indicates that Kashmir issue needs a resolution and only a peaceful resolution of this dispute can lead to a prosperous and peaceful sub-continent.In an emailed statement to KNS Malik said, “Kashmiris have been all along striving for a peaceful resolution of this dangerous dispute and this tiny nation has sacrificed more than 100000 people in this pursuit. UN secretary general’s statement that Kashmiris need to be engaged in the process of resolution and their rights must also be respected at all times, is also very positive and this has also shown that despite all dramas and theaters of so called elections, Jammu Kashmir dispute remains as a living reality and needs an early resolution.”
He said that for the sake of humanity and peace, United Nations should shun the appeasement policy of bigger states and intervene in disputes like Jammu Kashmir. “It is really important for United Nations and all big powers and sates of the world to understand that road to lasting peace and prosperity of the world goes through the path of resolution of pending disputes and without resolving these issues, the dreams of lasting peace, prosperity, brotherhood and security will remain unfulfilled,” the JKLF chairman said and hoped that good sense will prevail and positive steps towards resolving disputes like of Jammu Kashmir will be taken by all concerned.
Terming the ongoing election as a ‘one sided police and army operation’, Malik said, “Military and police crackdown on political activists is continuing and even today police arrested JKLF activists namely Fayaz Ahmad of Khanyaar, and Abdul Rashid Ganai, (Pir) ,Bilal Ahmad and Mohammad Maqbool Dar of Budgam in nocturnal raids. Police day before arrested JKLF vice chairman Mushtaq Ajmal and has been lodged at police station Batamaloo.”Malik said that despite all these ‘oppressive measures, arrests, intimidations, bribe and societal pisions, the election drama has failed in budging Kashmiris or defeating their resolve for freedom.’ He also appreciated people of those areas who protested against elections and boycotted despite ‘intimidations and temptations’ and said that their resolve should be a role model for the people of other areas too.
Meanwhile, JKLF leaders and activists continued their election boycott campaign in Srinagar and Kokerrnagh areas. JKLF leaders Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and Mohammad Ishaaq Ganai led delegations visited Jadibal, Hassan Abad, Saida Kadal, Nigeen and Rainawari in Srinagar and Haangalgund, Nagam, Kokernagh, Zalangam, Bidder, Adigam, Gurhard in Kokernagh. JKLF leaders visited home to home, met people and appealed them to boycott upcoming elections.
