Peoples’ Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone has remarked that he is not the contender for the post of the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir but wants his humble entry in the JK assembly.According to the KNS monitoring desk, Lone who in the recent past made headlines after meeting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stated that his objective for contesting the present polls is to make a humble entry in the JK legislative assembly. However, the former separatist leader was quick to add that if he is offered to become the chief minister of JK, he would say yes to it. “Who would say no? If a chair comes to me, I will sit on it,” Sajad said during an interview with the New Delhi based television channel earlier.
Over his wife Asma Lone, despite being the Pakistani citizen, campaigning for her husband during present elections, Lone said that when the Prime Minister of Pakistan met Narendra Modi during latter’s swearing in, why can’t he meet Modi and raise issues pertaining to the people of Kashmir at large.Sajad also hailed Modi’s efforts over Chattergam firing, saying Army for the first time admitted mistake publically after the killings. “Was Congress able to do that? It is Congress and National Conference who together eroded Article 370.”
Sajad also stated that he fears for his life during the present elections and that his own sources have asked him to be cautious. “Omar Government is the white collar killer. It uses security as a toll to dissuade people. I repeatedly asked for extra security cover but no one paid any heed. Only Ghulam Nabi Azad took care of this issue. Mufti denied security to my father and Omar denied security to me.”
Sajad stated further that when he was in the separatist camp, he never advocated for the poll boycott call. “I used to tell them not to enforce the boycott call. People vote for their day to day issues but there were no takers for the same within the separatist camp. I was an outcast there. I can tell you that not to vote is a democratic right of every person but boycott call is not a good idea.”Sajad also took dig at PDP saying its patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed jailed his entire family when he was the Home minister in GOI. “I can tell you that Mehbooba is the daughter of Delhi and Mufti is a miracle of Delhi and not a JK leader. He has been the Home Minister of India, Rajya Sabha member for decades.”Sajad also said that both NC and PDP are eager to have an alliance with the BJP for the Government formation in JK. “My meeting with Modi cannot be considered as my alliance with the BJP.”
