Addressing women’s convention in old city on Monday, PDP candidate for Khanyar assembly constituency, Mohammad Khurshid Alam, has said that women in the old city are the worst affected lot with the turbulent regime of National Conference leaving no stone unturned to vandalize Srinagar during its six year rule.

Alam while addressing the convention stated that women in Srinagar have a greater role to play in reshaping the lives that have been perturbed during the past six years of the NC rule.

In a statement he alleged that the National Conference since 2009 unleashed terror in the old city of Srinagar “in such a way that the place turned into the centre of mayhem and bloodshed.” “Youth in thousands being picked up and jailed sans any reason has traumatized the lives of the Srinagar inhabitants. Mothers and sisters of the young boys who have been killed, tortured and jailed by the National Conference government must in no way support the killers of their sons and brothers and that time is not so far when this dreadful regime of NC will end forever,” he said.

“People will put lid over the mis-governance and bloodshed regime. They will come out of their homes to register change in their lives. It is in the hands of the people now that whether they want NC to undermine the democratic process or to be the part of the change that would put Kashmir back of the path of development and prosperity. People have witnessed the golden period of PDP for three years. They have to support this party thoroughly so that it could strive for people’s rights for the times to come,” Alam said while addressing women convention at PDP’s party office Khaniyar.

Alam, meanwhile, accused the NC politicians of trying to set ablaze party’s old city office during the intervening night of November 30- December 1. “NC unnerved by the PDP wave has got involved in such coward acts that it has started attacking party offices. It should confront us directly on political grounds. NC is getting involved in all coward acts but same is revealing its frustration every day after,” Alam said.
