At least seven persons including a minor were injured when unidentified persons hurled a grenade towards CRPF bunker in City-Centre Lal Chowk in Srinagar city on Saturday.A CRPF officer on condition of anonymity told CNS that an unidentified persons hurled a grenade towards CRPF bunker located near erstwhile Palladium cinema. “The grenade did not hit the target and exploded with a band on the road leaving seven persons including Sub-Inspector CRPF Hari Ram pakar injured,” he said adding that three private vehicles (JK18-7405, JK01M-1500 and DL3CS-6060) also suffered damages due to the grenade blast.

Talking to reporters, SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar said that four to five people received minor injuries in the blast. He said that Srinagar has already been put on high alert to stop such incidents in future.A police official identified the injured civilians as Ghulam Nabi Nayak and his son Farooq Ahmad of Devsar Kulgam, Abdul Rahman Wani and Saleema Bani – both residents of Kawoosa Budgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar of Shivpora, Syed Abdul Majid of Natipora and Bashir Ahmad Wani of Bemina.The condition of all the injured is reported to be stable.Reports said that soon after the blast, government forces cordoned off the area and launched search operation, however, no one was arrested.
