It is because the leaders and people we trusted deceived us and betrayed with the blood of martyrs .The people who presented their precious sacrifices were not respected, instead led us to nowhere and made us slaves. We presented immense and cherished sacrifices but still some people fail to understand the real motive behind these sacrifices.”
Referring to elections, Geelani said, “We are being killed, properties looted and torched and it was time to retrospect about whether to extend our vote and support or refrain from all this futile processes.”Ridiculing the claims of a section of people who justify for their participations in these elections, he said, “Today some people justify their claim that it is vote for development and change. It is lame excuse. Development and change of hands ate two different things and our objectives are clear and we strive for a cause and we will achieve freedom from occupant forces. Development though necessary, but we assign top priority to our freedom struggle and all development work can be taken in hand but after achieving our goal.”
He maintained that keeping in view principal aim “we should boycott all elections. It is highly regretful that recent floods caused a massive devastation and despite all this elections were thrust on us .They created a hysteria like situation and agencies bribed with their money power and several opportunists jumped into election fray. pide and rule has become the order of the day, situation is confused and India is exploiting the electorate for the justification of its occupation.”“I am all praise for the wisdom of my people and no doubt they are with all their spirits with freedom movement but a single mistake of their make all the show a failure, and hence invite miseries. We are obliged to follow and we are committed with movement and hence we will continue our mission and added we feel our duty to warn our people against the sinister designs of India. It is your vote that justifies occupation, so we appeal you to boycott election processes on December 2,” he added.
