Stating that alliance with National conference was a bad experience, senior Congress leader and film actor Raj Babbar Friday said that Congress is the only party which can support Kashmiris. He also said that if Chief Minister would have been from the Congress from the last six years the Jammu and Kashmir scenario would have been different.Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), film actor turned politician RaJ Babar said, “The National Conference deceived Congress in every respect. Congress was always keen in the developments of Jammu and Kashmir but unfortunately our alliance partner always created hurdles and deceived us. It is a well-known fact that it was the National conference who was hurdling to give powers to the panchayat members.”“Giving the chief minister post to the National Conference for full six years was a mistake. The CM should have been from Congress or should have been rotational basis. Our state leaders were always demanding the congress CM. It was a mistake,” he said and added that if there would have been a Congress chief minister the scenario of the Jammu and Kashmir would have been different.
It is to mention here that at the time of government formation in 2008, the National Conference (NC) high command and Congress high command had agreed that there will be no rotational CM in the state and the CM would be from the NC.Raj Babar claimed that Congress alone can serve the people of the state in a better way and this is the party which can fight communal and pisive forces. “Whenever Congress got the opportunity it ensured development of the people equally in all the three regions of the state. I am confident that at this critical movement, people of Kashmir will remain steadfast to fight nefarious designs of those who are a danger to their cultural identity,” he said.
Lashing out at BJP he said, “The party is notorious for its communal mind set. BJP has proved that they are pisive but the people of Jammu and Kashmir will give a befitting reply to BJP in the election and I believe that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are slowly learning about the BJP's dual politics.”He claimed the Congress never tried to fool people for the sake of votes and gaining power and always tried to promote regional harmony and communal amity.
