The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS in PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Deptt. of Atomic Energy and Deptt. Of Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that Development of North East region is a priority for his Government and it includes not only infrastructural development but also cultural and social integration of the North East region in the national mainstream. For that purpose, more and more use of Hindi in the programmes of the Ministry of DoNER plays an important contribution towards integrating the region in the national mainstream and to highlight their culture and traditions.
He presented the awards to the winners of the Hindi competitions in the DoNER ministry held during Hindi Fortnight and for celebrating Swachhta Abhiyaan etc. Appreciating the award winners, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, that all the officers of the ministry must act proactively to accelerate the pace of socio-economic development of the Region so that it may enjoy growth parity with the rest of the country. Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the Central Government has complete commitment to ensure development with equity for the NER to unleash the potential of its human and natural resources.
The Minister for Development of North Eastern Region said that issues related to North East were high on the priority of the present Government and assured that, rising above all the mutual conflicts of interest, he would assure that each of the eight North Eastern States gets its due share. Dr Jitendra Singh said, it was the BJP led Government under Prime Minister Vajpayee, which had created an exclusive Ministry for North Eastern region and the present Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to carry forward the task of promoting development in North East by expediting ongoing projects and introducing new projects.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that instructions were issued for speedy utilization of funds allocated to North East region and said, his endeavour will be to bring about speedy development along with closer psychological affinity between the North-East region and the rest of the country. On the Prime Minister’s impending visit to North-East, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that Shri Narendra Modi is the guiding force behind all our initiatives and efforts towards development and welfare activities in North Eastern Region. His visit in the region will reinvigorate and reemphasize the central support to infrastructure development projects in the North East and he will participate in the special festivals of the region to focus on the unique culture and society of these hilly states.
